I first worked for the family heat-treatment business from the age of 13 at weekends and holidays, joining the firm full-time upon leaving school. I continued to study Engineering then Business Studies on a part time basis. The company expanded into Hand Tool Manufacture and I was involved in the development of this business from the outset. Having performed each and every role within the organisation I became Company Secretary, then Managing Director. The company was the largest manufacturer of Hand Tools in the UK when I sold it in 2006 where upon I joined the team at St Mary’s handling the Accounts and Admin functions.
Virtually all of my learning has been “on-the-job”. I introduced PC’s to my former company when they first became available in the UK, and we were one of the very first users of integrated Accounting Software. There were no teachers or training courses available in those days. Running and developing a highly successful company for many years provided me with a wide range of skills.
St Mary’s recently, established a Training & Consultancy Company and I have been helping a variety of organisations with many aspects of their accounts and systems.
I live in Sheffield with my wife and three children.
